What is the Mustangs summer comp?

A 10-week soccer competition played on weeknights at Wandarrah Reserve Mt Annan in October, November and December.

What days are the games?

Under 6/7 through to under 14/15’s play games on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 730pm and Under 16/17’s and Senior players play games on Friday nights from 7pm to 930pm. Exact times will be known after all teams have registered.

When does the competition start?

Mini and Junior competitions kick off on Wednesday 16th October 2024
Seniors’ competitions kick off on Friday 18th October 2024.

What’s the difference between Summer and Winter Comps?

For the under 6/7 age group, the rules remain the same, with 4 a side, no goal keepers, kick ins etc. following the Miniroos playing format.

For all other ages, the summer competition is played as a Small Sided Game (SSG), on a smaller sized field, using smaller goals, with 5 players and a goalkeeper (6 a side). Games go for two 20-minute halves and there are other rule differences including no offsides, kick ins instead of throw ins, and players from the field cannot enter the goal box at any time. The detailed rules are listed in the Mustangs competition rules.

How many can join my team?

You can have up to 10 players registered in each team. There is unlimited interchange, and no more than 6 players (1 goal keeper and 5 players) can be on the field at any one time.

I am new to soccer, can I still play?

Yes, new and existing players can form a team and register to play. Competitions are run in combined age group divisions. For example. The Under 8/9 division permits teams with players turning 8 and/or 9 within the playing year, to form and team and compete vs each other.

What divisions are there?

We are seeking team nominations for the following divisions:

a. A mixed under 6/7 Minis competition.

b. A mixed under 8/9 Juniors’ competition.

c. A mixed under 10/11 Juniors’ competition.

d. A mixed under 12/13 Juniors’ competition

e. A mixed under 14/15 Juniors’ competition

f. A mixed under 16/17 Juniors’ competition

g. An all-age men’s Senior’s competition

h. An all-age women’s Senior’s competition

i. An over 35’s men’s Seniors’ competition

j. A mixed Seniors’ competition.

As an example, if you have a team with only players who are turning 8, they will complete against teams that have players turning 8, turning 9 or combined teams of players turning 8 and 9.

What if I play with another club during the Winter Outdoor Season?

No problems, you can join and/or enter a summer comp team in the Mustangs summer competition, and then continue to play with your existing Club/team in the winter competition. Teams can be formed with new and existing players from any club. It could be an existing winter comp team, a group of friends from your school, or a combination of both!

Can I join more than one team in the competition?

You sure can! Players are eligible to register with a second team in a separate division, for an additional fee if certain conditions are met. Check the summer comp rules for more details.

Do summer comp teams do training?

Some teams may choose to train, however most prefer to play a game once a week. The summer comp is more social in nature and lets players have fun by playing friendly games.

Are there referees?

Yes, each game is allocated a referee/game leader. Referees are provided by the Macarthur Referees Association and the club has many Game Leaders to referee Minis games.

How much does it cost?

Under 6/7 pay a fee of $80. Under 8/9 to Under 16/17 pay a fee of $100. All seniors pay $150. Fees cover the cost of Football NSW registration, referee’s costs, and ground hire. Teams will separately need to organise and purchase their own playing kit (see below).

What equipment do I need?

All players require shin pads and boots to play. A playing kit (matching shirt, shorts and socks) must be arranged by each team. There are local business who can produce a playing kit for use for a small fee.

I’m ready to sign up, what do I do?

Once you have enough players to form a team (minimum 4 players for minis, and 6 players for other age groups), elect one player or parent (for mini and Junior teams) to be the team manager/coach. The team manager/coach should complete the team nomination EOI form (we just your contact details and team name) and we will send them an information pack on the next steps. In August, we will then ask all players to formally register and pay their fee through the play football website through their team manager.

I am a new player or from a different club, and I don’t have a team to join, but I’d really like to play.

If you’re looking for a team, please send an email to secretary@mtannanmustangs.com.au and we can see if we can connect you to an established team. We will add you to the waiting list. If you are forming a team and need more players, please reach out to see who may be available from the waiting list.

When do registrations close?

Final registrations for the summer comp will close on 4 October 2024, or until all places are filled.
